What’s fellowship all about

Fellowship means submitting yourself to someone higher than us spiritually and surrendering to the leadership of such person…totally surrendering to the tutoring and mentorship of that person Having accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. A man is enrolled into the school of discipleship. Following the path of someone who has gone ahead of you in other to become like such a man. A disciple is a LEARNER…One who is committed to SCHOOLING.. Following someone in the same ship Discipleship is primarily the responsibility of the local church.
Psalms 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. When a man comes into union with Christ. It is expected of him to the PLANTED in a fold A believer is expected to be planted. He cannot grow well spiritually outside the Church. This is so because GOD only uses men that He can trust. The men that GOD trust are the ones that have been trained. Without proper training the work of GOD cannot advance Apostle Paul said in his letter to Timothy,
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Paul trained Timothy and also advised him to no just leave the work of GOD into the hands of anyone. They must have been training or are being trained Again, GOD never uses people he has not trained and His training never ends. To be a disciple you must be a FOLLOWER. In discipleship, there is followership.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
See Jesus saying this… We are called to Christ. It is a call to FOLLOW! The way Bible uses the word followership is largely different from the English translation. In Ephesians 5 verse 1 Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; The word imitate is also translated as follow in some verpsions and in the Greek word “memetes” and it means to COPY. See AMP version PATTERN YOURSELVES after me [follow my example], as I imitate and follow Christ (the Messiah). That means copying Christ in our love walk. This is not same as impersonating Christ, but to live like Him because we have the same nature Another word for FOLLOWERSHIP is apprenticeship. To OBSERVE the master, so as to he able to do what he does
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
When A man follows and continues in fellowship, GROWTH is invetable Keep this

  • We follow GOD in HIS MEN! It can’t be more simple than this 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. [ In the process of following Christ, GOD has set men to be the a mirror of His pattern to follow… Don’t ever forget this,
  • MEN ARE DOORS GOD HAS SET FOR MAN TO ENTER INTO SOME CERTAIN FLOWS IN OUR WALK WITH HIM… There are certain flows and manifestation you may never get into by prayer and fasting, unless the man

  • GOD has manifestation set as a door for it opens the door for you Note this also, The Grace of God are ministered by men! The things of GOD are given through men God has set as CUSTODIAN of such flow Any man who will succeed in his calling MUST FOLLOW… To understand this early is wisdom and it will go a long way to help your Christian walk Followers hip comes with many benefit which includev
  • Ease of growth
  • Access
  • Platforms
  • Spiritual Covering

To follow, you must first of all decide. FOLLOWERSHIP DOES NOT HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT you must take Decision and acceptance One thing you should note is that FOLLOWERSHIP IS DELIBERATE It is a decision anyone who will follow must consciously make. Also note that the art of following comes with sacrifice of TIME, RESOURCES, CONTACT and paramount ATTENTION The person you are following or you decided to follow must also be aware you are a follower…You can not say you are following someone and the person is not even aware you exist. Mind you this may be the case for a while, but it can not and should not be for long. Why is this? I mentioned earlier that the things of GOD are ministered by men. Thus, it is by the will of these men that those things are released most of the time. The way a Father will Bless his son will always be different to the way he does for everyone else
Physical CONTACT is very important in Followership because no matter the kind of impartation you he virtually, direct LAYING ON OF HANDS does more! Apostle Paul told the Romans Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
2 Timothy 1:3,4,6 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
Hands can’t be laid on phone on via the Internet…it required physical contact ATTENTION is also important in Followership… You must not have a divided attention when following a man GOD has set over you… Let me say that, it is always advisable that a man follows JUST ONE MAN to avert confusion You can’t be following Apostle A and then be the son to Bishop B and also an associate to Reverend C… Your life will be a major mess at the end Stay with ONE FATHER! Apostle Paul has this to say
1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. You may like the materials and messages of some minister of GOD…fantastic, but don’t get too familiar with all. Stay with one GOD has chosen for you But let me add this that ATTENTION will help your balance… Apostle Paul said of Timothy
2 Timothy 3:10-11 [10]Now you have closely observed and diligently followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, faith, patience, love, steadfastness, [11]Persecutions, sufferings–such as occurred to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, persecutions I endured, but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Timothy could not have known Apostle Paul this much if he was not paying ATTENTION. Notice the word CLOSELY as used in the passage…that also suggests ATTENTION As a follower of the man GOD has set over you, FAITFULNESS is germane. Stay faithful in everything and with everything you have…your time. Your resources and all you’ve got…That is the only way you can partake in the anointing of your Fathe See Elijah and Elisha… Elisha was very close to Elijah. He followed well and Paid close attention to all that his master did. So much the Bible says of Elisha that he replicated all the miracles of Elijah TWICE Sadly, we can’t say same of Gehaz…He was not a Faithful follower…He had a divided mind and he lost his portion… You would have noticed that something was not right with Gehaz when the staff of Elisha that was given to him to raise the dead child did not work…His unfaithfulness started long before Namaan’s case…But he failed to repent till he lost all … If you follow well, what works or worked in your Father’s hand would work in your hand If what worked in your Father’s hand is not working in your hands, you may have missed it somewhere…seek timely help Timothy also had a good record of FAITFULNESS. He gave his all in his followership…Apostle Paul made boast of him…
Philippians 2:20,22 [20]For I have no one like him [no one of so kindred a spirit] who will be so genuinely interested in your welfare and devoted to your interests. [22]But Timothy’s tested worth you know, how as a son with his father he has toiled with me zealously in [serving and helping to advance] the good news (the Gospel).
note that in followership, HONOR AND SUBMISSION cannot be overemphasized. They are intertwined but not something and that is why I am talking about them together… The Bible pays great attention to honour and submission too, Note this, You can submit and not honor but you can’t honor without submitting… Honour means to give preference…To prefer over all else… The man you honour can not be wrong in your eyes. This is not to say that they are perfect…far from it. It means that, even if they are saying what seems wrong, you can’t put it to their face. You can’t correct the man you follow…you go to the God that placed him over you to talk to him…the head will always be the head. And in honor also, you have to honour with your substance also… Giving consistently to your Man of GOD is very important… Give your resources as much as you can afford Then in submitting, you give them first place. You don’t make decision first then tell them about it…they are entitled to everything about you. You can’t be saying GOD should tell them what you are doing. See, it is not every time that the Holy Spirit will be telling your mentor or Father about you. That would be gossip Holy Spirit has many other things to tell your Father/Mentor. You are not the only son or daughter they have… imagine GOD telling someone like Daddy ADEBOYE or BISHOP about all their spiritual children…when will they hear GOD about their own lives and ministry? Lastly, SUBMISSION also entails obedience. One of the hallmark of true follower is obedience to instructions. It is also what defines faithfulness… There are so much that can be said about followership accordingly to the word of GOD, but we have focused on this tonight and I hope you have been Blessed and edified…

What is difference between mentorship and discipleship.  Answer:_ Discipleship and mentorship are almost same…English is what is mainly the difference Your mentor can be your discipler and vice-versa However, discipleship connotes a deeper meaning than mentorship…You can have only one discipler but you can many mentors…people that instructs you like Apostle Paul said in the book do Corinthians. Your Discipler is more of a FATHER to you….The person you are looking to become like.
